Coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic has put us in an unprecedented time. In this time of crisis, I think that the most important thing is to save lives, not money. There are a lot of people out there who believe that given the current situation, reopening the economy and trading a few lives is better than keeping the economy closed, and have it be damaged. I think that this kind of thinking is not only wrong, but it should also be frowned upon. This belief does not consider the immunocompromised part of the population, as even if a person is completely healthy and the virus passes through them with no adverse effects, the virus is still being transmitted by the person. Our healthcare professionals are already under tremendous stress, and the more people who carelessly go out and get the virus, the less capacity is left for those who really need treatment. Personally, I think that if the economy were to reopen soon, it should be done at a reasonable pace, taking into consideration which businesses...

My Hobby

One of my favourite things to do is skiing. Personally, I find skiing to be not only extremely fun but also an excuse to go up onto the mountains and take in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. I find that when I am skiing on a mountain, the exhilaration of going down the mountain at 50 km per hour is only half the experience. The sound of the wind whistling by my ears, the iciness of the snow gradually increasing as the sun sets, and just the beauty of nature on top of the mountain are all, in my opinion, a crucial part of the experience. I remember the first time I went skiing, it was through a program that my elementary school offered. We went as groups of six with an instructor to learned the basics of skiing. Oh man, was it challenging.. Having never learned how to skate, (which supposedly makes it easier to learn how to ski) I was completely new to it.
